Thank you for wanting to share your memories.
WHAT TO GIVE US?
We are interested in collecting written memories, photos, videos, audio files, documents and artworks about the location 13 Garrett Street, from anyone who interacted with it in any way.
Please help us by curating your content before you give it to us. If you have heaps of photos or videos from an event at Garrett Street, please pick the best few rather than giving us ALL of them. We are collecting decades worth of memories. Quality over quantity.HOW TO GIVE IT TO US?
There are a few different ways you can share your memories of Garrett Street for our archive.
If you would like to share a WRITTEN memory, with maybe one or two photos, you can log it directly in our TIMELINE.
If you would like to share a quantity of stuff (photos, audio files, videos, documents) you can upload a folder to our DROPBOX.
You can also come to 13 Garrett Street to deliver us physical materials, or to transfer files directly onto one of our hard drives.
If you are giving us a bunch of photos or stuff that could do with context, feel free to upload a .txt file at the same time that explains the story behind the stuff you are giving us.
FILE NAMING
Please RE-NAME YOUR FILES according to our RULES before you give them to us.
This will help us massively. Here are the rules:
DATE first (YearMonthDay), then SHORT DESCRIPTION, then YOUR NAME
For example:
20241201_Lvl2Kitchen_KathleenWinter
20240124_OutsideGarrett_JohnDoe
20250703_OllieGig_Anonymous
If you don’t know the exact date, you must at least guess the YEAR. You could do the YEAR and MONTH but not the day if you’re unsure.
For example:
202202_BirthdayParty_JohnDoe
1990_RaveOnTheRoof_ChrisJ
GET UPLOADING
Here is the link to our DROPBOX FOLDER. Please use it respectfully.
WHAT WE WILL DO WITH THE STUFF
We will download it from ~The Cloud~ and store it securely on two physical hard drives.
One copy will remain accessible at 13 Garrett Street, the other will be a backup held at a different location.Content you put on the Timeline will be immediately made public, and will also be downloaded and stored on hard drives.
At this point we are focusing on COLLECTING, and we are open to ideas for USE AND DISTRIBUTION of content in the archive. Maybe someone will make a zine? Or a movie? Or an exhibition? Or a mix tape?. . .
Our intention is for everything collected in the archive to be publicly available - at some point. So please don’t submit your secrets, just history that you want to share.
